Jason Whitlock says Caitlin Clark ‘made a fool out of herself’ by failing to control her emotions in the Indiana Fever’s loss to Minnesota Lynx – and the WNBA star herself admitted she must do better to stay composed.
Clark clashed with officials several times during Friday night’s game, and at one point, when she thought she had been fouled while contesting a rebound, she stayed on the floor instead of coming back to help defend herself. the Fever 99-88, with Clark still scoring 25 points on the night.
Whitlock, who usually praises Clark, wrote on Saturday X: “Caitlin Clark did something stupid last night. An embarrassing performance. Her lack of emotional control and hyper-focus on arguments and confrontations with judges caused Fever to lose her temper and break down. “She has a well-deserved bad reputation among the judges No WNBA player spends more time complaining and arguing with the referees. Last night, it reached a new level. She acted like a 12-year-old girl who thinks she can do anything. Jason Whitlock criticized Caitlin Clark for her actions during the loss to the Indiana Fever on Friday. “His lack of emotional control is the biggest obstacle of Fever. He is the leader of the team, and Aaliyah Boston followed Clark down the path of complaint. This has to stop.” The referees, for good reason, don’t like the Fever.’
Whitlock also shared video of Clark lying on the ground after not getting the call he wanted and posted it with just the caption: “Shame.”In a separate tweet, Whitlock said: “She showed exactly these tendencies in Iowa. “The problem is worse, not better. I like it. But it is a child and a diva in the field.”
‘Sometimes you get calls, sometimes you don’t. It is what it is. I think I could have done a little bit better job controlling my own emotions.
‘I think there’s a line and sometimes your passion, your emotion can get to you, but that’s not something I would ever change or anybody on our team would ever change.’
Clark, whose Fever team have already secured a place in the playoffs, return to action on Sunday afternoon against Atlanta Dream.
