Who would have imagined that the homes of NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce would become targets for burglars? In early October, both players’ residences were broken into within a tight 48-hour window, sparking a frenzy of speculation and reactions across social media.
According to the New York Post, fans on X (formerly Twitter) have shared theories about the motives behind these break-ins. One fan suggested, “I bet someone is looking for Super Bowl rings.” Others questioned the security at the players’ homes, while a few noted the close timing of the incidents, hinting it might be the work of the same burglar.
The break-ins occurred just before the Chiefs’ face-off with the New Orleans Saints on October 7. Mahomes’ residence in Belton, Missouri, was the first to be breached. Authorities were alerted by a member of Mahomes’ security team, and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office classified the event as a “Burglary/Breaking & Entering.” Oddly, there were no signs of forced entry, adding an air of mystery as the investigation unfolds.
Less than 24 hours later, Kelce’s home in Leawood, Kansas, was targeted. This second break-in happened around the same time the Chiefs were preparing for their Monday Night Football game against the Saints. Kelce wasn’t as fortunate as Mahomes, with reports indicating that around $20,000 was stolen, and the back door of his home was damaged. The incident reportedly led Kelce and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, to relocate to a hotel temporarily for added security.
Kelce’s property, a $6 million purchase made in October 2023, was initially meant to offer him and Swift a retreat from the constant gaze of paparazzi. Meanwhile, Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, built their Belton home on land they acquired four years ago, creating a personal haven that’s now caught in the spotlight following these incidents.
As the investigation continues, fans remain on high alert, eagerly following any updates on the case.
