New York Giants linebacker Micah McFadden suffered a hip injury late in the first quarter in the Giants’ preseason game against the Houston Texans. He was carted off the field after being attended to by the training staff.
The Giants announced that McFadden had been ruled out of the game late in the second quarter.Defensive lineman Ryder Anderson, who has been a starter alongside Dexter Lawrence II, also left the game with a hamstring injury.
Newly signed safety Jonathan Sutherland was ruled “questionable” with a burner after going into the blue medical tent early in the third quarter. The Giants signed the DB out of the CFL on Thursday, August 15th.Linebacker and special teams player Matthew Adams left the field after helmet-to-helmet contact with Texans RB J.J. Taylor. He was quickly ruled out with a groin injury before the end of the third quarter.
Defensive tackle D.J. Davidson went down and was helped to the sideline by trainers in the fourth quarter.
Offensive lineman Yodny Cajuste was ruled out of the game late in the fourth quarter with a foot injury.McFadden seemed to suffer the injury defending a run as the Texans were coming out of their endzone following Daniel Jones’ second interception. McFadden went to the ground and was immediately checked out by the training staff.
McFadden, a former fifth-round pick, stepped forward as a quality starting linebacker for the Giants in 2023 alongside Bobby Okereke. Dyontae Johnson is also out after injuring his ankle in the first preseason game. This time, we may get an earlier-than-expected look at the Giants’ depth on the line, with a look at Isaiah Simmons at linebacker. In Anderson’s absence, undrafted free agent Elijah Chatman is being evaluated with the first team.
