NASCAR Hall of Famer Awaits Retaliation From Kyle Busch After Mocking Rowdy’s Legal Troubles in Mexico

For the first time in NASCAR history, the Cup Series is heading to Mexico City for a points-paying race at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Although this track hosted the Xfinity Series from 2005 to 2008, this year’s event marks a groundbreaking moment. While the racing world is buzzing with excitement, Kyle Busch’s participation has raised some eyebrows due to his past legal troubles in Mexico.

In 2023, Busch faced significant legal issues after being caught with a gun and ammunition during a routine airport check in Mexico. He was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and fined $1,000. However, a local judge resolved the matter after Busch paid an undisclosed amount. NASCAR has since confirmed that the legal complications have been resolved, clearing the way for his return.

Former Hendrick Motorsports crew chief Chad Knaus stirred controversy when he discussed Busch’s past on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. The conversation began with a race-related incident but veered into Busch’s legal history. When host Mike Bagley mentioned a chaotic moment in a previous Xfinity race, Knaus linked Busch to the incident, humorously adding, “Kyle’s going to be calling me here in a minute.” Despite realizing his misstep, the candid remarks left the panel laughing.

Busch, who won NASCAR’s last race in Mexico back in 2008, remains eager to compete at the track. After a challenging 2024 season, where he went winless, fans and critics alike are questioning whether the two-time Cup Series champion can still perform at the highest level. However, Dale Earnhardt Jr. expressed confidence in Busch’s ability to bounce back. Speaking on his podcast, Earnhardt Jr. said, “Kyle Busch is one of the most motivated competitors out there. He doesn’t like losing, and he certainly doesn’t like breaking streaks.”

Busch’s 2024 season was marred by close calls and near wins, including a dramatic third-place finish in Atlanta and a narrow loss at Daytona. Despite these setbacks, his determination remains strong. Earnhardt Jr. believes that last year’s disappointments will fuel Busch’s drive to prove himself once again in 2025. Whether it’s reclaiming victory on a traditional oval or making history in Mexico, Busch’s return promises to be a key storyline this season.
