Nascar announces result of Austin Dillon appeal to be reinstated into playoffs

The results of the  appeal of the team no. 3  of Richard Childress Racing  was announced on  Wednesday and  it didn’t go well for RCR.

Dillon and the  no. 3  also  lost 25 points in the  drivers’ and  owners’ standings, while  the observer of the team  no. 3, Brandon Benesch was suspended  for three races.

RCR appealed the decision to the National  Motorsport Appeals  Committee. . The panel upheld most aspects of the penalty, but  reduced Benesch’s suspension to  one. The panel said in a statement that Dillon and the No. 3  crossed  the line with  his actions.” NASCAR represents  the elite  of motorsports and, as such, its drivers are expected to demonstrate exemplary  behavior if  you want the championships  in your series prove. In this case, the  ‘line’ has been crossed,” the statement said.

RCR responded with a statement saying it plans to appeal to the  final appeal officer. Four playoff spots  remain with two  Series  Series contests Cups remaining in the regular season
