MLB Suspends Jazz Chisholm for Breaking One Rule Every Fan Loves

He got ejected… then fired up Twitter. What did MLB think was going to happen?

Thursday’s Yankees vs. Rays game was supposed to be about New York’s fourth straight win. Instead, it turned into a headline battle—and Jazz Chisholm Jr. was the star of the show for all the wrong reasons.

It started in the top of the seventh, when Chisholm was rung up on a strike that looked… well, let’s just say it was closer to his shoelaces than the zone. Home plate umpire John Bacon made the call, and Chisholm did what most players do—argued it. But then he did what no player is supposed to do.

He went straight to the clubhouse and straight to social media.

In a now-deleted post, Chisholm didn’t mince words. He called out the call with a not-so-family-friendly caption:
“Not even f**** close.”**

The tweet went viral instantly. Fans were split. Some backed him. Others said, “Man, you know MLB’s watching, right?”

They were. Less than 24 hours later, MLB suspended Chisholm for one game and handed him a fine (amount undisclosed). Why? Because he broke two clear rules:

1. Posting during a live game, and

2. Directly criticizing an umpire online.

But here’s where it gets spicy—Jazz isn’t taking the suspension quietly. He played in the next game and officially appealed the decision. If he has his way, the suspension will be wiped clean.

This isn’t his first digital detour, either. Just last month, Chisholm got into a full-on keyboard war with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy over those infamous torpedo bats. Whether it’s a bad call or a bad take, Jazz seems to keep one eye on the game and one thumb on the “post” button.

Say what you want about him, but Chisholm is redefining the old-school “shut up and play” mindset. He’s flashy, fiery, and not afraid to speak up—even when it costs him.

Still… next time he’s ejected, maybe just leave the phone on airplane mode.
