LeBron James was one of the biggest supporters of Caitlin Clark during his first year as a rookie, and after a big night for the Indiana Fever star, he took to social media to directly answer his critics with a message four words
Clark had a career-high 31 points and 12 assists in Indiana’s final regular season game against the Chicago Sky on Friday night.
Clark went 8 of 14, including 5 of 9 from three-point range, for his 11th double-double as the Fever took a 3-1 series lead with a 100-81 win over Chicago.
Despite his absence, Clark received a standing ovation from the fans when he left the game in the fourth quarter with just under four minutes left. He also received a tribute from NBA legend LeBron James, who sent a direct message to the “haters” on social media.
James also retweeted an NBA post highlighting Clark’s stats, which included another record for the former Iowa star.
Friday marked Clark’s fifth game of the season with at least 20 points and 10 assists, the most in a single season in WNBA history.
“I’m proud of this group,” Clark said after the game. “I think we battled and we didn’t let the game get us down at the end, and that was kind of a problem the last time we were here. We let them come back, we know that “They’re very good. team in the fourth quarter, but we fought and understood.”
As the Rookie of the Year debate heats up, Clark still remains the clear favorite.
