Jerry Jones Sends Strong Message to CeeDee Lamb and Cowboys, Rejects Sun as Excuse for Eagles Loss

Jerry Jones is dealing with a new controversy surrounding the Dallas Cowboys, this time focusing on comments made by wide receiver CeeDee Lamb after their recent loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Lamb attributed a missed second-quarter touchdown catch to the sun’s glare, sparking a wave of debate.

“I couldn’t see the ball. I couldn’t see the ball at all. The sun,” Lamb explained, acknowledging the sun’s impact on his play. When asked if he’d support adding curtains to the Cowboys’ stadium to fix the issue, Lamb responded with, “Yes. One thousand percent. I mean, y’all doing my job right now.”

Rather than addressing the team’s performance or postseason aspirations, Jones found himself in an unexpected discussion about sunlight, stadium design, and even the moon. This surprising focus seemed to shift attention from the Cowboys’ Super Bowl prospects to a more unusual debate on architectural adjustments.

The Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington has a retractable roof but allows sunlight to stream in through large end-zone windows. This unique design feature creates occasional visibility issues for players. Despite complaints from Lamb and other players, Jones offered a frank response: “By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we decide to flip the coin. We do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium.”

Jones’s response makes it clear he has no plans to add curtains to the stadium. He shot down the suggestion in his usual straightforward style, saying, “Well, let’s tear the stadium down and build another one? Are you kidding me? Every team that comes in here has the same issues. The world knows where the sun is. You get to know that almost a year in advance.”

It’s evident Jones isn’t willing to make changes to accommodate what he views as a non-issue. His message was clear: the Cowboys—and their opponents—need to adapt to the stadium’s design as it is. For Jones, the conversation around the sun and stadium alterations is a distraction from the real issues the team needs to address to stay competitive in the league.
