Angel Reese has opened up about how her perspective on relationships has evolved, especially following her breakup with Cam’Ron Fletcher. The 22-year-old basketball star now believes in keeping relationships private and only sharing details when they become serious, such as marriage. Reese, who has often reflected on the lessons from her past relationship, touched on this topic during a conversation with rising college basketball player Mikey Williams on her podcast, Unapologetically Angel.
During their discussion, Reese asked the 20-year-old Williams if he had children, to which he promptly replied no. She then asked if he planned to marry before having kids, emphasizing the importance of breaking the norm of having children before marriage. Williams firmly agreed, stating he didn’t want a “baby mama,” surprising Reese with his traditional outlook.
“That’s a first. That’s a good thing right there,” Reese responded, impressed by his stance. She added, “Love that for us.” This viewpoint aligns with her current approach to relationships—keeping them private and prioritizing long-term commitment.
Reese’s past relationship with Fletcher was highly publicized, and during that time, baseless rumors circulated about her being pregnant. In 2023, she even got Fletcher’s name tattooed, but their relationship ended after a year. Reflecting on the challenges of a public breakup, Reese revealed that she regrets making the relationship so visible. On a previous podcast episode, she explained, “I don’t think I’ll ever have a public relationship again unless it’s leading to marriage.”
Reese and Fletcher shared a strong bond, having known each other for six years. However, their relationship became strained as Reese’s career advanced while Fletcher’s basketball season was cut short due to injury. The increased attention on their relationship, including fans commenting on Fletcher’s posts about her, became overwhelming. “It was just too much for me,” Reese admitted.
