Former NFL QB Jay Cutler Arrested on DUI and Firearm Charges

Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested in Tennessee on DUI and gun possession charges, as confirmed by local authorities on Friday. The 41-year-old was taken into custody following a minor traffic collision in downtown Franklin on Thursday evening, according to city police spokesperson Max Winitz.

Officers arrived at the scene around 5 p.m. after a crash involving two vehicles, where they determined that Cutler had allegedly rear-ended another driver. During their interaction, police said they noticed the smell of alcohol, and when Cutler refused to perform a field sobriety test, they obtained a blood sample at a nearby hospital through a search warrant. Additionally, officers found two firearms in his vehicle, one of which was loaded, further complicating the charges.

Following his arrest, Cutler was booked at the Williamson County Jail and later released on a $5,000 bond that same evening. No further details about his court date have been made public.

Cutler, a former star quarterback at Vanderbilt University, was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2006 and spent the majority of his NFL career with the Chicago Bears before retiring in 2017. Outside of his football career, Cutler was previously married to reality TV personality Kristen Cavallari, with the couple announcing their divorce in 2020 after seven years of marriage.
