Cowboys Fans Call Out Jerry Jones Over Derrick Henry Excuse: “Just Admit the Truth!”

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is facing backlash from fans after his recent comments about why the team didn’t go after star running back Derrick Henry. During his appearance on ‘105.3 The Fan,’ Jones brought up the topic himself, explaining that Henry wasn’t a good fit for the Cowboys’ offense. This came right after Henry’s incredible 169-yard performance in the Ravens’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leaving many wondering if Jones had made a huge mistake.

Jones claimed that Henry’s running style wouldn’t have worked with the Cowboys’ offensive scheme and that salary cap concerns also played a role in the decision. He even suggested that Henry wouldn’t be having the same success in Dallas that he’s enjoying in Baltimore. But these comments didn’t sit well with Cowboys fans, especially considering the team’s abysmal performance in the run game this season. With Dallas sitting dead last in rushing yards and touchdowns, many fans believe Henry could have made a huge difference.

Fans wasted no time calling Jones out on social media. Some accused him of making excuses to cover up his poor decision-making. “Jerry keeps trying to deflect instead of just admitting he was wrong,” one fan wrote. Another said, “Even in our offense, Henry would still be putting up better numbers than our entire current backfield.”

It’s not just about the lack of a star running back, though. Fans also feel that Henry could have made life easier for quarterback Dak Prescott. With Henry’s presence, the Cowboys’ offense would have had more balance, opening up opportunities for play-action passes. One fan commented, “Henry would’ve opened up the passing game… which *is* a staple of the Dallas offense.”

Many fans believe the Cowboys missed a golden opportunity to improve their team. Henry, who currently leads the league in rushing yards and touchdowns, is on pace for a monster season, while Dallas continues to struggle on the ground. It’s no surprise that Cowboys Nation is frustrated. Henry could have been the difference-maker in what’s been a disappointing season so far.

Had Jerry Jones been more aggressive in pursuing Henry, the Cowboys might be in a much stronger position right now. Instead, fans are left questioning what could have been if the team had taken a chance on the star running back.
