Caitlin Clark has always stayed true to her roots. With the NCAA season starting soon, she’s been a strong presence in Iowa, the place that first set her on her path. Yet, the WNBA star is also making time for her relationship, supporting her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, as he begins his college coaching career.
Recently, Clark traveled the 374 miles from Iowa City to Indianapolis to cheer on McCaffery’s Butler Bulldogs. She was seen earlier at Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium and was then spotted at Hinkle Fieldhouse, where a co-host from the Bulldog Bark Podcast confirmed her attendance. The insider shared a blurry photo of her in the stands, tweeting, “Out of respect for her privacy, I waited until after the game to post this. But WNBA star Caitlin Clark was indeed at Hinkle tonight, cheering on the Butler Bulldogs! Love to see it!”
It’s clear Clark is fully behind McCaffery as he kicks off his coaching journey. In the Bulldogs’ only exhibition game, they triumphed 88-47, and Clark was there to witness it. Having announced she won’t be joining any basketball leagues this off-season, fans can expect more appearances from the Indiana Fever player at McCaffery’s games.
“I’m super excited for him,” Clark shared when McCaffery became Butler’s assistant coach in September. After playing for Iowa under his father, Fran McCaffery, Connor joined the Indiana Pacers’ coaching staff. Now, he’s bringing his experience to Butler. Head coach Thad Matta expressed his confidence in Connor, saying, “Following a high-level playing career, Connor has had the chance to learn from one of the best NBA staffs. Those experiences will be valuable to our team. He comes from a basketball family that I know well, and I’m excited for the impact he’ll have on our program.”
Despite his well-known family ties in college basketball, Connor’s relationship with superstar Clark has also drawn attention. With both of them in the spotlight, their relationship has become a popular topic. Recently, while Clark was reconnecting with her Iowa teammates, Connor was seen at a solo birthday dinner with the Indiana Mad Ants, the Pacers’ G League affiliate. He reshared a post on social media that read, “Great bday dinner last night with better people.”
This shows the couple’s ability to balance personal commitments while supporting each other’s careers. The Butler Bulldogs’ season opener against Missouri State is set for November 4th, and Clark is sure to be cheering McCaffery on, knowing how hard he’s worked to reach this point. With her next WNBA season a ways off, Clark will likely be a regular in the stands this season.
