Recently resurfaced photos of Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese have sparked renewed debate on social media. The photos, taken during a lingerie photoshoot last year after Reese’s NCAA championship victory with the LSU Tigers, were initially shared on Instagram but later removed.
Despite their deletion, the images have gone viral again on X, leading to mixed reactions. In the photos, the 22-year-old forward confidently poses in lingerie. While many supporters praised her for embracing her femininity and body confidence, others were more critical.
Some fans pointed out a perceived inconsistency between the images and Reese’s past comments urging people not to sexualize her. A few critics expressed disappointment, arguing that as a professional athlete, Reese shouldn’t engage in such photoshoots.
“She hates when people sexualize her,” one user wrote on X. Another added, “Isn’t this the same woman who doesn’t want to be sexualized?”
Following her final college season, Reese acknowledged the challenges of dealing with public scrutiny but emphasized that she would remain true to herself both on and off the court. “I’ve faced so much – attacks, death threats, being sexualized and threatened – but I’ve stayed strong every time,” she said.
Despite the controversy, Reese has proven herself on the court. She had an impressive rookie season with the Chicago Sky, leading the WNBA in rebounds with 13.1 per game, alongside 13.6 points and 1.3 steals. However, her season was cut short after 34 games due to a wrist injury, and the Sky narrowly missed the playoffs.
Reese has always been vocal about her confidence in her body and personal style. She has made it clear that while she embraces her identity and expresses her sexuality through fashion, this does not give others the right to objectify her.
