Could a fresh face soon join the ranks of NASCAR? Andretti Global, a powerhouse in motorsports, might just be gearing up to make that leap. The team, owned by racing legend Michael Andretti and entrepreneur Dan Towriss, already boasts an impressive roster in various racing disciplines.
Andretti Global’s current line-up includes teams in Indycar, IMSA, Indy NXT, Formula E, Extreme E, Supercars, and the Super2 Series. Their ambition knows no bounds as they strive to make their mark across the racing world.
Recently, Andretti Global set its sights on the Formula 1 grid, though they faced a setback when their entry bid for 2026 was turned down. Undeterred, the team continues to chase the dream of joining the prestigious F1 circuit.
But that’s not the only horizon they’re eyeing. JF Thormann, the team’s president, has officially voiced an interest in joining NASCAR, adding another thrilling chapter to Andretti Global’s racing saga.
In the NASCAR Cup Series, there are 36 charter teams. A charter guarantees participation in every race and a bigger slice of the TV revenue pie. The price of these coveted charters recently soared, with the latest estimated at a hefty $40 million.
As JF Thormann explained in a video on the team’s YouTube channel, “We’re the only ones competing in as many series as we do. And with Mike’s continued ambition, we still have some unfinished business with Formula 1, as everyone knows. Hopefully, NASCAR will be next. If that happens, we’ll have a race almost every weekend, keeping our name in the spotlight and our team busy.”
